The Office of Faculty Affairs is pleased to announce a one-week intensive summer workshop to promote interest and growth in applicant pool numbers and diversity for the Provost’s Research Fellowship and the Provost’s Study in a Second Discipline Fellowship.
- Provost’s Research Fellowship: This fellowship will provide one-semester teaching buyouts and related support to selected faculty members to facilitate their completion of applications for preeminent international and national fellowships or awards.
- Provost’s Study in a Second Discipline Fellowship: This fellowship seeks to promote interdisciplinary research at GSU by providing faculty a semester-long teaching release to engage in intensive and structured study of a discipline other than their own. This can involve, for example, learning new methodologies, studying new theoretical frameworks, or becoming familiar with a new body of literature.
The workshop is opened to tenured graduate faculty with active research records. Workshop participants will receive a $1000 stipend (full attendance for the week of the workshop is required).
Through facilitator-directed sessions, interested and promising fellowship candidates will participate in focused writing and review sessions that will conclude with each participant developing a completed draft of a proposal to one of the two fellowship opportunities. The key elements of the workshop will be facilitator guidance and feedback, and peer reviewing. While the proposals drafted through this workshop will serve as precursors to the fall application for the Provost Fellowships, it is our hope that this work will also serve as the basis for for other internal and external research funding applications.
The deadline to apply is April 9, 2020. Workshop tracks will be limited to 12 participants. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Elizabeth West at email@example.com.
Please note that this summer workshop is not an application requirement for the Provost’s Fellowships.
