Graduate Assistants
D’Asha Daniels
D’Asha Daniels is a Graduate Research Assistant for the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA). In this role, she supports and assists in the development and implementation of faculty programming related to faculty development and wellness.
D’Asha received both her bachelors and masters degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Georgia. She is currently a doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at Georgia State. D’Asha was awarded the Ken Matheny award and is a Doctoral Scholar for the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). D’Asha’s area of interest include women of color in higher education and the cultural significance in positive psychology.
Jalen Smith
Jalen Smith is a Graduate Research Assistant for the Office of Faculty Affairs. He conducts research on the work that the office is engaging in the areas of faculty development, success, and support. In addition, Jalen is working to support the mentoring initiatives of the Advance IMPACT Grant from the of the Office of Faculty Affairs.
Prior to joining the Office of Faculty Affairs, Jalen served as Student Body President at Valdosta State University, where he received his Bachelor’s of Political Science. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy with a concentration in Education Policies from Georgia State’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies.
AJ Jiang
Angela Jiang (she/hers, preferred name AJ) is a Graduate Research Assistant for the Office of Faculty Affairs. Her responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of faculty programming as it pertains to faculty professional development and wellness. AJ is extremely passionate about mentorship, program development, equitable recruitment and hiring, and integrating mental health and wellness into all initiatives.
AJ is also currently a second-year Professional School Counseling Master’s student at Georgia State University (GSU). Prior to starting her program at GSU, AJ was a Program Manager at the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club, a national environmental advocacy nonprofit. AJ found a passion for working closely with youth and transitioned into the School Counseling space in 2021. A passionate advocate of the School Counseling profession and aspiring counselor-educator, AJ engages professionally by serving as the School Counseling Liaison and the co-chair of the Professional Development Task in her local Chi Sigma Iota Chapter, and embarking on efforts to start the first Asian-American affinity group within the Georgia School Counseling Association. AJ earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences at Emory University.
