The Office of Faculty Affairs
Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of Faculty Affairs supports the university’s infrastructure and programming to recruit, appoint, retain and support GSU faculty members, helping them achieve their full potential.
The Office of Faculty Affairs leads initiatives and engages in the following:
- Development and revisions of faculty-related policies and procedures, such as those related to appointment, leaves, promotion and tenure
- Creation and execution of faculty development programs and workshops, both through Faculty Affairs and in collaboration with other units at GSU (such as the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning & Online Education)
- Development and direction for leadership programs for university administrators, department chairs and faculty
- Management of faculty awards processes to recognize outstanding faculty through a range of university-wide awards and honors, and support for recognition of Georgia State faculty through awards and honors granted by the University System of Georgia
- Programming for faculty mentoring
- Support for faculty wellness and well-being
- In collaboration with the Office of the Provost and other units across the institution, assistance with the implementation of the action plans developed from the COACHE (Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education) faculty satisfaction survey process
