Reid Tankersley was hired at Georgia State University in December of 2014 and currently serves as the Director of Faculty HR in the Office of Faculty Affairs. His team is responsible for all initiatives and software systems that support faculty human resource activities, and he also manages recruitment, hiring, promotion, tenure, review, and policy for Georgia State’s 1500+ faculty across its six campus locations in the metropolitan Atlanta area. He is responsible for identification and implementation of common-sense faculty policies and procedures to increase speed and efficiency while minimizing risk and exposure of the University. His office also acts as a liaison to the academic unit Dean’s Offices for Georgia State and to senior faculty leadership on faculty issues. Prior to his time at Georgia State, he worked in The Office of Faculty Affairs and The Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at The Georgia Institute of Technology.
Reid holds a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Auburn University. He was a full-scholarship member of the Auburn Tigers football team and was awarded student-athlete honor roll recognition three out of his four years with the team. He continued his athletics, playing rugby for the Auburn University club team while in graduate school and has remained active in rugby (first as a player, now as a youth coach) and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after moving to Atlanta in 2003.
